These service stations will pump gas for handicappers at self-serve prices. It is available to any person with a disability who has a valid permit or plate and has no one else in the car to assist. It is voluntary and is identified by a placard posted at participating service stations.
This service is a joint effort of the Michigan Commission on Disability Concerns, Michigan Department of Agriculture, Associated Petroleum Industries of Michigan, Michigan Petroleum Association, Service Station Dealers Association of Michigan, American Automobile Association, Michigan Public Service Commission, Michigan Department of Transportation, State of Michigan Library and Michigan Library Association and Alger County Online.
